Establishing Business Contacts in the financial heart of the World

On May 1, Romanian Tourism Minister, Dan Matei Agathon, the former Prime Minister and current Governor of the Central Bank, Mugur Isarescu, as well as the Romanian Ambassador to the United States, Sorin Ducaru and a business delegation from Romania visited the Gold and Precious Metals Department at the Federal Reserve accompanied by Mr. William McDonough, the Director of the Federal Reserve. This event was followed by a luncheon at the HSBC Bank where Romanian government officials, US investors and fund managers met.

On May 2, Mr. Governor Isarescu and Mr. Agathon visited the NYSE accompanied by Stefan Minovici, the President and CEO of MIC & Associates, and Ms. Carol Lynn Steiner, the Vice- President of US Securities. On the same day, Mr. Isarescu and Mr. Agathon also visited NASDAQ Headquarters, accompanied by Mr. J. Michael Kelly, the Global Managing Director of NASDAQ. During this visit, the possibilities of listing Romanian companies at NASDAQ were discussed. Thereafter the delegation and fund managers from Merill Lynch, Lehman Brothers, JP Morgan Chase, Morgan Stanley and other major investment banks met in a lunch sponsored by MIC & Associates, and the Eurasia Group.

On May 3, Mr. Isarescu and Mr. Agathon accompanied by a business delegation from Romania visited Standard & Poor’s and Moody’s Investor Services, where they had the opportunity to discuss Romania’s ratings and various ways to improve them. During the evening, a special dinner in honor of the guests was scheduled by ambassador Sorin Ducaru at the Consulate General of Romania with diplomats, politicians and Romanian-American business people. On the same day, members of the Vrancea Chamber of Commerce had the opportunity to attend a business seminar at the USSecurities by market experts, on ways to enter and succeed in the US markets.
