On Wednesday, January 15, a US diplomatic delegation met with Stefan Minovici at the New York offices of MIC & Associates.
The group was led by Mr. Dean Thompson, the future Deputy Chief of Mission to the US Embassy in Bucharest and was accompanied by Mrs. Angela Gemza, press attaché to the same diplomatic mission, as well as by Ms. Kate Bartlett, cultural attaché to the US Embassy in Chisinau, Republic of Moldova.
This protocol follows a long-standing tradition of bringing dignitaries to meet with Romanian-American leaders form various domains, including business, cultural, religious, diplomatic and members of the Diaspora at large. University professor Ilie Tecuta, a language expert and trainer for most diplomats serving in Romania accompanied the group to New York, as he has done since 1998.
Mr. Thompson, a veteran career diplomat with twenty years of assignments that include posts in India (Consul General- Calcutta), Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Paraguay, served also as a State Department Crisis Management expert in Washington DC. He will began his assignment in Bucharest in June of 2014.
Mrs. Gemza, a ten-year career diplomat has had assignments in Iraq, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka and India. She will begin her mission in Romania in early June, 2014 as well.
Ms. Bartlett will see her first assignment at the beginning of this summer in the Republic of Moldova. She is a graduate of George Washington University with a degree in International Affairs and also a graduate the University of Florida.
