On May 27, Mr. Stefan Minovici organized a fundraiser in the honor of Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez at the home of Dr. Mihaela Galica Vladutiu. Dr. Vladutiu is a Romanian-American medical practitioner affiliated with New York University’s Langone Medical Center. Over thirty high profile people were in attendance, including key decision-makers representing the public and private sectors. The event was a remarkable success, given the strong show of support of the participants and specifically, those from the Romanian-American community.
As a prominent leader on issues pertaining to the military and national security, Representative Sanchez is the second highest ranking Democrat in the House Armed Services Committee. Mrs. Sanchez is also the current Ranking Member of the Tactical Air and Land Forces Subcommittee, where she is spearheading efforts to prepare our Armed Forces for tackling a new generation of security challenges. On the Tactical Air and Land Forces Subcommittee, Congresswoman Sanchez focuses on Army and Air Force acquisition programs and weapons systems, along with the Navy and Marine Corps aviation programs and National Guard issues. She is also a senior member of the Subcommittee on Strategic Forces, serving as a Ranking Member during the 112th Congress. Representative Sanchez was appointed by Leader Pelosi to the prestigious Board of Visitors of the United States Military Academy at West Point.
During week of June 29, Mr. Minovici will accompany Congresswoman Sanchez to Romania on an official visit to the country. The trip is co-organized by the German Marshall Fund of the United States, in order to engage with national leaders from the respective spheres including academia, national security, defense and international non-governmental agencies active within Romania. Many top US political figures including United States Vice President Joe Biden, US Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel and Congressman John McCain were in Bucharest since May 25. Representative Sanchez’s visit is a strong show of support for Romania and its people on behalf of the US Congress and all Americans. This is a direct response to the illegitimate annexation of Crimea by the Russian Federation, as well as the armed invasion of Ukraine by the Russian troops and their surrogates.
