Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney (D-N.Y.) paid a visit to Mr. Stefan Minovici at the MIC & Associates office in September 2012. Ms. Maloney represents New York’s 12th Congressional District, which includes most of the East Side of Manhattan, Roosevelt Island, and extends across the East River into the Boroughs of Queens and Brooklyn (including Greenpoint).
Congresswoman Maloney’s constituency includes a significant Romanian-American population, living in boroughs such as Long Island City, Astoria, Sunnyside, Maspeth, and the Upper and the Lower East Side of Manhattan Ms. Maloney is an enthusiastic supporter of the Romania Festival created by Mr. Minovici in May, 2000.
First elected to Congress in 1992, Carolyn. Maloney is recognized as a national leader with extensive accomplishments in diverse areas such as financial services, national security, the economy, and women’s issues. In January 2009, Congresswoman Maloney was the first woman elected to serve as the Chair of the Joint Economic Committee. Currently, the Congresswoman acts as the Vice-Chair of the House Democrats’ Steering and Policy Committee, and is a senior member of both the House Financial Services Committee and the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.
