MIC & Associates and the largest Romania-American weekly, ZIUA USA, organized the Tenth Edition of the Romania Day Festival on legendary Broadway. On Saturday, May 2 2009, the financial heart of the City of New York celebrated the best of Romanian culture, history and traditions. The program included a parade of Romanian national costumes and a beauty pageant. Renowned Romanian artists and musicians performed live for the audience. Traditional Romanian food and drinks were served, while folk art from Transylvania, Moldova, Bucovina, Oltenia and Maramures was exhibited. Numerous Romanian and American organizations presented and promoted their products and services to all those in attendance.
Representatives of the American government and of the City Hall of New York, including the Mayor of New York City, Michael R. Bloomberg, together with Romanian counterparts and leaders of the Romanian-American community were invited to celebrate this unique event. The Festival is the largest gathering of Romanians on the North-American continent and all over the world. More than 25,000 tourists, diplomats, businessmen, church officials, and other dignitaries took part in the event this year.
